Ideas that need to find their best form

A novel that needs another pair of eyes. An essay still searching for its structure. An organisation with something important to communicate, but too much information to communicate it clearly. A team that needs to turn knowledge into a story others can understand.

These may seem like very different challenges, but they have something in common: there is an idea, and we need to find the best way to communicate it.

My work sits at an unusual intersection between literature and the professional world. My background brings together engineering and literature, alongside experience in writing and editing and years of managing international projects, developing content, analysing information and communicating complex ideas to diverse audiences.

Through Escritura Creativa, I work with authors, professionals, cultural and educational institutions, and organisations across five areas.

1. Editing & Proofreading

A good editing process is not about replacing the author’s voice. It is about helping that voice come through more clearly.

I provide editing and proofreading for:

  • fiction, including novels and short stories
  • essays and non-fiction
  • articles and digital content
  • academic writing
  • professional documents and communications

Depending on the needs of the project, the work may range from proofreading and stylistic editing to a more substantial review of structure, argument, clarity, rhythm, coherence and organisation.

The aim is always the same: to strengthen the text without losing the voice that makes it distinctive.

Who I work with: authors, researchers, postgraduate students, professionals and organisations with a developed text that needs to reach a stronger, clearer final version.

2. Literary Project Development

Writing a novel, a collection of short stories or a long-form essay involves hundreds of decisions. Some are immediately visible. Others emerge only when somebody reads the work from the outside.

I provide critical reading and developmental support throughout the writing and revision process, while respecting the author’s intentions and individual voice.

We can work on areas such as:

  • narrative structure and architecture
  • character development
  • narrator and point of view
  • pacing
  • dialogue
  • continuity
  • handling of time
  • thematic coherence
  • style and voice
  • successive drafts and revisions

My role is not to tell you how to write your book, but to help you discover what the book you want to write needs in order to become its strongest version.

Who I work with: writers developing or revising a novel, short story, essay or other literary project who would benefit from thoughtful, professional feedback throughout the process.

3. Translation, Adaptation & Localisation

Translation is not simply about replacing words in one language with words in another. It is about reconstructing meaning, intention and voice so that a text can work in a different linguistic and cultural context.

I offer:

  • English-to-Spanish translation
  • Spanish-to-English translation
  • translation review and editing
  • content adaptation
  • localisation for Mexico and Latin American audiences
  • editing of bilingual content

I work particularly with literary, cultural, educational, professional and specialised content, with attention to both accuracy and the natural flow of the final text.

My approach takes into account not only what a text says, but who will read it, in what context and what it needs to achieve.

Who I work with: authors, professionals, institutions and organisations that need their content to communicate effectively across languages and cultures.

4. Content, Storytelling & Communication

Sometimes the problem is not a lack of information.

It is exactly the opposite: there is too much of it.

I help professionals and organisations transform complex information, research and knowledge into content that is clear, structured, engaging and meaningful.

I can support projects involving:

  • content development and editing
  • storytelling and narrative development
  • articles and thought-leadership content
  • scripts
  • executive presentations
  • reports and strategic documents
  • learning and training materials
  • synthesis and communication of qualitative research
  • adaptation of specialised content for different audiences

My professional experience managing international projects and working with multidisciplinary teams allows me to combine analytical thinking with narrative tools: first understanding what needs to be communicated, and then finding the most effective way to communicate it.

Healthcare & Pharmaceuticals

I have particular experience working in international healthcare and pharmaceutical environments, including projects involving customer engagement, qualitative insights, field teams, cross-functional collaboration, training and the communication of strategic findings.

This means I am comfortable working with complex subject matter and multiple stakeholders while translating information into narratives and materials that different audiences can understand and use.

Who I work with: companies, consultancies, healthcare and pharmaceutical organisations, cultural and educational institutions, and professionals who need to turn specialised knowledge into clear and compelling communication.

5. Workshops & Training

Reading, writing and communicating are skills that can be developed.

I design and facilitate workshops, courses and learning sessions for universities, cultural institutions, organisations and companies.

Topics can include:

  • creative writing
  • narrative techniques
  • reading and literary analysis
  • storytelling
  • professional writing and communication
  • communicating complex ideas
  • literature and everyday life
  • literature, philosophy and psychology

Sessions can be adapted to the objectives, experience and background of each group.

I can also develop bespoke programmes around the specific needs of an organisation or team, delivered in either English or Spanish and designed for participants working across different countries and cultural contexts.

Who I work with: universities, cultural organisations, companies and teams looking for engaging, tailored learning experiences rather than off-the-shelf training.

Who I work with

The projects I take on can be very different, but they usually involve people who care about ideas, language and communication.

I work with:

  • Authors and writers developing, revising or preparing literary work.
  • Researchers and postgraduate students who want to communicate complex thinking with greater clarity and precision.
  • Professionals and independent experts developing articles, presentations, reports or other content.
  • Cultural and educational institutions creating editorial, educational or learning projects.
  • Companies and consultancies that need to transform complex information into meaningful communication.
  • Healthcare and pharmaceutical organisations working across functions, markets and international teams.

Projects may be undertaken entirely online, making collaboration possible regardless of location.

An unusual combination

My professional path has developed across fields that are often treated as separate worlds.

My academic background spans engineering and literature, including postgraduate studies in Mexican literature, while my professional career has involved international project management, communication, training, qualitative analysis and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.

At first sight, engineering and literature may seem to have very little in common.

I have come to see it differently.

Both require us to ask questions about structure, relationships, meaning and how individual elements work together as a whole.

One has taught me to approach problems analytically.

The other has taught me to pay attention to language, perspective, ambiguity, stories and the people who receive them.

Much of my work now takes place precisely at that intersection.

I can approach a project through two complementary lenses: analytical precision and sensitivity to language, narrative and audience.

I do not believe that better writing means more complicated writing.

Quite often, it means exactly the opposite:

understanding more clearly what we want to say.

Have a project in mind?

Not every project fits neatly into a category.

You may be writing a book and need an experienced outside reader. You may have a text that needs editing or translation. Perhaps your organisation has valuable knowledge but needs a clearer way to communicate it. Or you may be looking for a workshop designed specifically for your team.

Tell me what you are working on, what you need and where you are in the process.

From there, we can define the objectives, scope, deliverables, timeline and budget.
